Founded in 1983, EURALEX will celebrate its 25th birthday this year. At its creation a constitution was drawn up. This was revised for the last time in 1994; it is now time to look again at what might need changing.
In order to consult the membership, the constitution has now been placed on the EURALEX website at www.euralex.org. Members who wish to propose changes should send their comments to the Secretary Treasurer, preferably by the 31st May 2007. This will enable the board to discuss the changes at the interim board meeting to be held in Barcelona in June 2007. An annotated version will then be posted on the website so that the revised constitution can be voted at the next General Meeting in Barcelona in July 2008.
Comments may be sent by email or surface post to:

The 13th EURALEX International Congress will be held 15-19 July 2008 in Barcelona, Spain. The Congess will be organized by the InfoLex Research Group at Pompeu Fabra University.
The EURALEX Congresses bring together professional lexicographers, publishers, researchers, software developers, and others interested in dictionaries of all types. The programme will include plenary lectures, parallel sessions on the topics listed below, software demonstrations, pre-congress tutorials and specialized workshops, a special session for students and work-in-progress, a book and software exhibition, and social events for participants and their guests. The congress in Barcelona will run from Tuesday afternoon through Saturday midday. The sessions will be held on the main campus of Pompeu Fabra University, which is centrally located and easily reached by public transportation.
Papers, posters and software demonstrations are invited on all topics of lexicography, including, but not limited to, the following fields, which are the main focus of the congress:
The main topics are not meant to exclude any lexicographic topic. Papers, posters and demonstrations that are relevant to the congress, but which do not fit into any of the categories 1-9, will be reviewed nonetheless and considered for presentation.
Contributed papers
There are two types of contributed papers. Full papers should be timed for 30 minutes, and will be followed by a 10-minute discussion period. Short papers and project notes will be allowed 20 minutes with a 10-minute discussion period.
We are particularly interested in well-prepared software demonstrations, presentations of electronic dictionaries, corpora, tools, etc. These demonstrations will be allowed a 30-minute time slot at the congress (they may be presented more than once). Technical facilities will be available, however, we would ask everyone submitting proposals to indicate well in advance exactly what technical facilities they need.
A poster session is planned. Appropriate facilities will be provided on the Congress site.
Languages
Oral presentations may be made in any language, but unfortunately interpreting services will not be provided. Authors are asked to submit their proposals in one of the following languages in order to ensure proper review: English, Catalan, Spanish, French or German. E-mail submission is required (please note: this is a change from past practice). In addition, authors should send one hard copy to the congress organizers before 31 October 2007. Anyone who foresees a problem with E-mail submission should contact the conference organizers (euralex2008@upf.edu) as soon as possible. To send submissions, please see the information on the congress website: http://www.iula.upf.edu/agenda/euralex_08. The information on the congress website will be updated regularly.
The submission process has two parts. First, authors are asked to fill out an abstract registration form, which provides the congress organizers with important administrative information. Authors are then asked to send an MS-Word or .rtf attachment with the title of their contribution and the submission (authors are asked to refrain from including their names in the attachment, but please ensure that the title of the submission is the same as the one registered).
Contributed Papers: 6-8 pages, double-spaced
Software Demonstrations: 4 pages, double-spaced
Posters: 1-2 pages, double-spaced
Front page:
Font: TimesNewRoman, 12 pts
Authors whose submissions are accepted will receive a style guide for the preparation of the (electronic) final version of the paper to be published in the Proceedings immediately before the congress.
Pre-EURALEX tutorials: Pre-EURALEX tutorials will be organised for July 14-15. Topics will be announced later.
Exhibitions: A book and software exhibition will be organised. Walk-up-and-use software demonstrations (without presentation, not included in the Proceedings) may be given there; however, participants should bring their own transportable PCs or laptops as there will be no technical support.
Registration: Fees will be announced later. An early subscription bonus, as well as a reduction for EURALEX members, will be offered. A late fee will apply.
To receive an e-mail message with the second circular in July 2007, please see the congress website: http://www.iula.upf.edu/agenda/euralex_08.
October 31, 2007: Deadline for receipt of preliminary versions of papers by congress organisers.
February 1, 2008: Dispatch of notifications of acceptance/rejection.
